About

Hello, my name is Shammrie Brown (pronounced Sha-mar-ee).

I believe life experiences contribute to our growth and development. With God, self-reflection and community, we are able to flourish to our full potential.

A little bit about me

Originally from Grand Rapids MI, I now live in the Chicagoland. I have a Master’s Degree in Urban Leadership, a Bachelor’s in Social Work and Associate’s in Human Services. Helping people is my passion. I’ve spent the past several years working in the non-profit sector, providing direct and in-direct services to those in need. In 2016, I answered my calling into ministry. Shortly after, I became a licensed Minister under the leadership of John Hannah, Senior Pastor of New Life Covenant Church Southeast. There, I entered full-time ministry and and worked as staff in the Outreach and Community Development ministry. In 2019, I created the Black Man Theology Blog, which shares stories, movie reviews, devotionals, and articles about God, social justice and life experiences from the perspective of Black men. Also, I am the author of a children’s book entitled “ God is a #Girldad.” Furthermore, I am a content partner for YouVersion Bible App where my wife and I write Bible plans on various topics. In 2020, I became a certified Professional Life Coach through Transformation Academy.

Last but not least, I live with my beautiful wife and daughter and dog. They are my heart.
