Meet Shammrie Brown

Shammrie Brown is a devoted husband to Imani and a loving father to their children—and even their beloved dog. A writer, minister, and servant leader, he has dedicated his life to uplifting others through faith, service, and storytelling.
With a Master’s Degree in Urban Leadership from Northern Seminary, Shammrie has spent years working in the human services field, advocating for individuals and communities in need. His passion for ministry extends beyond the walls of the church, reaching into the hearts of people through mentorship, outreach, and empowerment.
As a content partner for the YouVersion Bible App, Shammrie creates Bible plans designed to inspire and challenge believers in their faith journeys. Through his writing, he weaves together theology, social justice, and personal experience, encouraging others to see God’s presence in their everyday lives. He is also the creator of Black Man Theology, a platform that amplifies faith-based conversations from the perspective of Black men, offering devotionals, movie reviews, and thought-provoking articles.
At his core, Shammrie is committed to serving both the local church and the broader community. Whether through preaching, writing, or simply walking alongside those in need, he believes in the transformative power of faith, love, and justice. Originally from Grand Rapids, MI, Shammrie now resides in the Chicagoland area, where he continues his work as a minister, writer, and nonprofit professional.
